Davida D. Williams is 1 of 2 artistic producers for Iowa Stage Theatre Company. She is a Des Moines, Iowa native with more than thirty years of acting experience in stage, voice over, and film. Davida studied at Grandview University, where she developed a tenacious passion for storytelling and a deep aspiration to enact positive change through theater. She has carried this passion into her current position while maintaining an active focus on diversity, inclusivity, and representation both on and off stage.
Davida has also been involved with Pyramid Theatre Company since the first season in 2016, playing Ruth in A Raisin in the Sun. She went on to play Sis. Boxer in Amen Corner, and Esther in Intimate Apparel, a role that earned her the 2019 Cloris Award for best actress. Davida experienced her directorial debut with ISTC, directing Trouble In Mind by Alice Childress. Other collaborations have been in the play Sweat playing the role of Cynthia, earning her second Cloris award for best actress, Exit Strategy playing the role of Pam, and the world premiere of Adore Us!, as Vice President Kamala Harris. She has also enjoyed working with Open Door Rep, where her work was nominated for Best Supporting Actress (Dead Dog Park), Tallgrass Theatre, and DM Young Artists theater.
Davida has also cultivated a very promising voice acting career over the last ten years, lending her voice to projects for Iowa State, Delta Dental, Verizon, and other companies across the country. She’s a proud mother of three and grandmother of three.
